Disability and your private pension plan, locked-in retirement account or life income
Supplemental pension plans
If you have received a refund or have made a transfer to a registered retirement savings plan (RRSP), a locked-in retirement account (LIRA) or a life income fund (LIF), your work will not have any effect on those transactions.
If you are receiving a disability pension under your plan, it is possible that payment of your pension may end if you are no longer deemed to be disabled under the plan.
If payment of your disability pension ends, you will still receive a retirement pension under your plan when you retire. The amount of your retirement pension could be adjusted to take into account the amounts received when you were disabled.
LIRA
If you have received a refund of your locked-in retirement account (LIRA), your work will not have any effect on that transaction.
LIF
If you are
under age 54
, your earnings will change the temporary income that you can draw from your life income fund (LIF). However, your life income will not be affected.
Starting at age 54, your earnings will not affect the amounts that you can draw from your LIF.
