Sondage sur les attentes à l'égard des communications relatives au supplément de rente de retraite

(Expectations for notices regarding the retirement pension supplement: a survey; French only)

Since 2008, the Act respecting the Québec Pension Plan has provided for the payment of a pension supplement to beneficiaries of a retirement pension who continue to work. The Régie sends a letter to anyone entitled to a supplement of more than 1 $ to inform them of the fact. With this in mind, the Régie wanted to know what expectations its clients have for the notices we send regarding the retirement pension supplement.

This study presents the results of a survey conducted in the summer of 2009 among beneficiaries receiving a monthly supplement of 10 $ or less. In addition to establishing their profile, the survey reveals their opinions of the explications sent to them by the Régie regarding the retirement pension supplement.

According to the survey, the majority of respondents believe it is necessary for the Régie to send them a letter informing them of a change in their retirement pension. The results also show that people receiving larger supplements are more likely to remember having received a letter.

While the study confirms the necessity of sending notices regarding the retirement pension supplement, it raises questions as to the minimum amount as of which the Régie should send information to beneficiaries.
