If your spouse dies

You can be entitled to a surviving spouse's pension under the Québec Pension Plan and a retirement pension at the same time. The pension is then said to be "combined".

Have you filed an Application for Retirement Pension Sharing Between Spouses? Pension sharing ends at the end of the month following the death of one of the spouses. The surviving spouse will then be entitled to the same retirement pension amount, if any, that he or she was receiving before pension sharing began.

We combine your two pensions in only single monthly payment

The amount you will receive may not equal to the sum of the two pensions. The total amount of the combined pension cannot exceed a maximum amount which is set by law.
