When do Family Allowance payments stop?

Payments stop when one of the following situations occurs:

  • Your child turns 18.
  • Your child leaves home.
  • Your child is married or living in a conjugal relationship.
  • Your child dies.
  • Your child is placed or institutionalized under an order until he or she turns 18.
  • You no longer provide for your child's needs.
  • You or your child leaves Québec.
  • Your child's condition has improved and he or she is no longer deemed to be handicapped based on the criteria set out in the Taxation Act and its regulation.
