For whom is this online service intended?

For you, if you wish to apply for one or more of the survivors' benefits paid under the Québec Pension Plan following the death of a contributor or a beneficiary of the Plan. These benefits are:

What are the advantages of this service?

You will be able to:

  • answer only those questions that apply to your situation depending on the benefit or pensions for which you are applying
  • lower the risk of error due to checks made as you fill out the application 
  • eliminate postal delay
  • save your information and complete your application later
  • receive a more rapid answer if you are applying for a surviving spouse's pension
  • find out exactly what supporting documents you will need onscreen
  • sign up for Direct Deposit at the same time

How to use this service?      

  • You must indicate the deceased's social insurance number (SIN), as well as your own, so that we can authenticate your identity.

Practical advice

Deceased person
The deceased person is required to have sufficiently contributed to the Québec Pension Plan.


Death benefit
The death benefit, which is a maximum of 2 500 $ is paid in priority to the person or charitable organization that paid the funeral expenses. After 60 days, it can be paid to the heirs.


Surviving spouse
To be entitled to a surviving spouse's pension, you must be considered the deceased person's spouse.


Orphan
The orphan's pension is paid to the person who cares for the deceased person's minor child.
