A child turns 18 - What starts
All workers 18 and over
contribute to the Québec Pension Plan
if they earn over 3 500 $ a year.
Contributing eventually entitles a person entitlement to
pensions and benefits under the Québec Pension Plan
. The person can also give entitlement to a pension for a disabled person's child, a death benefit, a surviving spouse's pension and an orphan's pension, depending on the situation.
Young adults should consider
financial planning for retirement
as soon as possible. The earlier a person starts saving, the greater the amount that will have been accumulated by retirement time.
