Retirement pension under the Québec Pension Plan start date
Before age 65, a retirement pension cannot be paid until the latest of the following:
- the month following the contributor's 60th birthday
- the month following the date on which we received the contributor's pension application
- the month chosen in the pension application.
A contributor age 60 or over who has contributed for at least one year to the Plan can draw a retirement pension while continuing to work on a part-time or full-time basis.
Retroactive retirement pension
A contributor age 65 or over who has not applied for his or her retirement pension can receive a retroactive pension covering a maximum of 12 months from the date the application is filed. However, payment of the pension cannot begin before their 65th birthday.
How often are payments made?
The pension is paid on the last working day of the month.
