Child placed by a youth centre
The placement of your child may have an effect on the Family Allowance that you receive.
Since October 2021, certain eligibility requirements for Family Allowance have changed following the new measure announced by the Gouvernement du Québec, which abolishes the financial contribution to placement where a child is placed by a youth centre.
What you need to know:
If you have a child placed until he or she turns 18 under an order
You are no longer entitled to Family Allowance or its supplements for that child as of October 2021.
If you have a child placed under youth protection, who was not ordered by the court to be placed until he or she turns 18 and you were receiving Family Allowance
You will continue to receive Family Allowance and its supplements, if applicable. No changes have been made to your file and no action is required on your part.
If you have a child placed under youth protection, who was not ordered by the court to be placed until he or she turns 18 and you are not receiving Family Allowance
You could be entitled to Family Allowance and its supplements, if applicable, as of October 2021. You must file an application to receive it.
