Death of a child

The death of a child affects the Family Allowance and (if applicable) the Supplement for Handicapped Children.

You must inform us as soon as possible of your child's date of death. Call us so that we can update your file and make the necessary corrections.

We will continue paying your Family Allowance during the quarter in which the death occurred, regardless of the frequency of the payments. No claim will be made if an overpayment is made after that quarter.

If a child dies in the month of his or her birth

We do not pay any Family Allowance for a child who dies in the month of his or her birth. You must still inform us of the death.
